what a crazy day. worked all day then flew to the train station in order to get the R5 to Temple to unload the kiln which fired my laundry and pins to cone 10 (i also fired my advanced project in there, and im REALLY ecstatic with the outcome of them.  began the installation process tonight and plan on getting up early to finish it up.  i will post the pictures next week!

Undies, undies Everywhere...

Had a talk with Eric about my project. We decided to revamp it, an instead of producing an entire wardrobe of clothes, I will focus on various undergarments. I like this avenue a lot better and feel much more confident after talking with him. shown here are my bisqued panties, I will be producing more before I glaze them.

Video & Updates

we have been glaze testing in porcelain class. here, I am in the middle of mixing the glazes before applying them to the tiles.

Here are the same test tiles but with the glazes on them waiting to visit the kiln.







The tiles came out of the kilns today and late last week, some of them look pretty interesting, while others could be modified. Overall, I feel okay with the outcomes of the tiles.

Porcelain Undies

This is one of six undies that I have currently made from a Porcelain body I made.  I am using paper to help support the clay while it dries and to also help give it texture. It took me a little bit to get into a good rhythm for making the clothing but right before spring break I figured out a system that worked. Hopefully I can fall back into that pattern after break.

The Beginning...

Began the experimental stages of my project tonight. I am playing with thickness' of the clay to allow translucency to my pieces alongside working on manipulation and folds.

The Inspiration.

Last semester, I studied in Rome, Italy. While I was there, I found myself loving the way Roman laundry was hung and the things it could capture.  Viewers will get a chance to see my inspiration and process as I recreate Roman Laundry with porcelain clay.
